Greenwich Department of Human Services Fund Launches 2026 Holiday Aid Program, Invites Community to Help Local Neighbors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GREENWICH, CT — November 2026 — As holiday lights begin to brighten Greenwich Avenue and storefronts around town begin to glow with the spirit of the season, many Greenwich residents are looking forward to gathering with loved ones and celebrating holiday traditions. But for some of our neighbors, the holidays can also bring added financial pressure at a time when making ends meet is already a challenge.

The Greenwich Department of Human Services Fund (GDHS Fund) is inviting the community to help local families, individuals, and seniors through its 2026 Holiday Aid Program.

The Holiday Aid Program provides support to eligible Greenwich residents during the holiday season, including assistance with holiday meals, gifts, and grocery gift cards. In 2025, 1,109 Greenwich residents received support through the Holiday Aid Program.

More than one in four Greenwich households—26%—are living below the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) Threshold, meaning their income is not enough to cover the basic costs of living in the community. For households already managing everyday expenses, the added costs of holiday meals and gifts can create an even greater financial burden.

“Holiday Aid is about making sure our neighbors don’t have to choose between celebrating the holidays and meeting their basic needs,” said Blaise Punturo, President of the Greenwich Department of Human Services Fund. “The generosity of our community makes it possible for us to provide meaningful assistance to Greenwich residents during a time when that support can make such a difference.”

There Are Many Ways to Help

Make a Monetary Donation

Monetary donations allow the GDHS Fund to provide assistance where it is needed most and help reach the greatest number of Greenwich residents. Donations may be made securely online or by check payable to GDHS Fund.

Purchase an Amazon Gift Card

Community members can support Holiday Aid by purchasing an Amazon gift card through the program’s Amazon Wish List. Gift cards purchased through the Wish List are shipped directly to the Greenwich Department of Human Services and distributed to eligible Holiday Aid recipients.

Adopt a Family

Through the Adopt a Family program, individuals, families, businesses, and community groups can help make the holidays special for a local family. Adopters receive a family’s holiday wish list and purchase gifts based on the family’s requests.

“Whether someone makes a financial contribution, purchases an Amazon gift card, or adopts a family, every act of generosity helps bring the community together during the holiday season,” said Jamie Annunziato, Community Programs Coordinator for the Greenwich Department of Human Services.

Community members can learn more about the Holiday Aid Program, make a monetary donation, purchase an Amazon gift card through the Wish List, and find information about Adopt a Family at GreenwichDHSFund.org.
